Abstract
Since the driving performance of magnetic device is quite sensitive to the path of magnetic flux, the design of a fixture for magnetizing the permanent magnet (PM) is important in the production of PM-type actuator. This paper presents a new design method of the core structure design of a magnetizing fixture for obtaining the target magnetization of non-magnetized PM. The optimization problem is formulated to minimize the difference between the magnetic flux generated by the applied current and the target flux at the specified observation points in PM region. The structural boundary and magnetic property of core material are represented by the level set function, and the optimization is performed by the adjoint design sensitivity. To confirm the usefulness of the proposed design method, a core design example of magnetizing fixture for radial magnetization is provided.
