Abstract
.This paper presents the optimal design of flux barrier in an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) considering fatigue loading. The level set method is implemented to design the innovative shape of the flux barrier. To maintain the magnetic performance and improve mechanical performance, the objective function is defined by minimizing torque ripple under the fatigue loading constraints calculated from S-N curve and Goodman diagram. The proposed method is confirmed by designing 12 pole 18 slot V-type IPMSM and the optimal configuration improved the fatigue life.
