Abstract
This paper aimed to reveal complicated epics topographic map of HongGil-DongJeon. The epics in HongGil-DongJeon are not much but simple. Those categories co-exist in the story while they were contradict and competing each other in an epic. It is the reason why HongGil-DongJeon is lack of consistency or unity. However, all existences had the altruistic elements inside and those different elements co-exist as being inconsistent, contradictory and competing each other. All existences synthesized different features. They make one existence by filling and competing each other. The literary works are not exceptional. It is more serious for the works with multiple layers in a writer and distribution like HongGil-DongJeon. The view of the world of intellectuals, the desire of the public, philosophy of the ruling class, resistance of the ruled class, elegance of written literature, simplicity of orally transmitted literature, critical mind of realism, and fantastic solution co-exist in HongGil-DongJeon. Such aspects mean the lack of unity and consistency and the signal of multiple layer, complication and dynamic. It is because HongGil-DongJeon reflects not the world where one view of world or philosophy rules but interests of multiple layers related to that world. Complicated epic geography signifies the historic characteristics of HongGil-DongJeon. It will be the characteristic in the literature history but a disadvantage as the individual artistic works.
