- Abstract
- A two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is newly developed by solving the nonlinear shallow-water equations. An upwind scheme is used to discretize the nonlinear convection terms of the momentum equations, whereas other terms are discretized by a leap-frog scheme. The developed model is then applied to simulate and predict tidal changes due to construction of a new harbor in Busan, Korea. Predicted free surface displacements and velocity distributions are compared to those obtained by field measurements. A very reasonable agreement is observed.
