- Abstract
- We experimentally investigated the impact of wavelength detuning on upstream transmission in a loop-back wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) passive optical network based on reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA), where single mode lasers were employed as seeding sources. Varying the wavelength detuning condition, the suppression of the residual downstream components included in the upstream data was dramatically changed due to transient chirp effect and the interaction between the transiently chirped light and the slight gain variations caused by gain ripple in the RSOA, giving rise to significant system performance variations.
