- Abstract
- Scan patterns for quantized coefficients that are intra predicted are needed to improve the efficiency of entropy coding. Therefore, various scanning algorithms have been proposed. In this paper, a modified adaptive scan pattern algorithm is proposed. A new scanning pattern can achieve an entropy coding gain in intra coding by updating the zero-counter and scan pattern at every macroblock. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the bit-rate about 2.23% as compared with H.264/AVC and 0.49% as compared with Yoo's algorithm[5].
