- Abstract
- Hydrostatics of floating wind turbine is one of the main sources of stability of the floating structure. The linear hydrostatic stiffness is commonly used in the analysis of floating wind turbines. The linear hydrostatic stiffness is based on the initial position of floating platform and does not take into account the rotational motion of the floating platform. In this study, the effect of hydrostatic nonlinearity on the dynamic response of floating wind turbine, is presented. The dynamic equation of motion of floating wind turbine is formulated using Newton-Euler approach. The effect of hydrostatic nonlinearity on the large amplitude response of the floating offshore wind turbine through the analysis of OC3-Hywind model.
