이 글의 목적은 사회서비스(Social service) 분야에서의 인문학의 활용가능성을 탐색해봄으로써 인문학과 복지의 접점을 모색하고(인문복지). 이에 기초한 인문학 실천을 도모하는 단초를 마련해보는 데 있다. 인문학은 사회적 양극화 해소나 청년 실업 감소. 그리고 인간 삶의 질 고양 등 복지사회 구현이라는 시대의 요구에 부합할 수 있다. 이 글에서는 인문학의 실용적 가치. 사회서비스의 개념과 내용. 사회서비스와 인문학의 관계. 그리고 사회서비스 영역에서 인문학 실천을 위해 필요한 것은 무엇인지를 검토해 볼 것이다. 이는 복지에 대한 관심이 높은 사회적 흐름에 조응함으로써 시대정신과 소통하는 인문학의 가치를 새롭게 인식하는 계기를 부여할 것이고. 이는 인문학의 인식 지평과 실천 범주를 넓히는 주요한 방향타가 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to identify a point of contact between the Humanities and welfare(humanistic welfare) by inquiring into the possibility of utilization of the Humanities in the field of social service and to prepare a head start for promoting the humanist practice based on this. The Humanities can correspond to the demands of the time and the realization of welfare society. such as the solution of social polarization. the reduction of youth unemployment. and the enhancement of the quality of human life. This study also examines the practical value of the Humanities. the concept and details of social service. the relationship between social service and the Humanities. and what is needed for humanistic practice in the field of social service. This kind of examination will provide a chance of recognizing the value of the Humanities that communicates with zeitgeist by corresponding to social flow that is highly interested in welfare. Hopefully. the findings in this study will provide a meaningful rudder in widening the horizon of recognition and the categories of humanistic practice.
