Abstract
This study analyzed the design elements and fashion trend of women's knitwear in collections of Paris, Milan, London and New York between 2003 and 2008, and examined knitwear trends in an effort to verify whether knitwear trends are It also sought to categorize the attribute of various factors influencing knitwear trends with a view to determining relevancy between design elements, knit gauge and to present the direction of predicting knitwear fashion trends and the progression of short-term knitwear trends. This study reached the following conclusion. The result of distribution of frequency by fashion design elements between low, middle, high gauge and fine gauge showed that the knit stitch of the highest frequency was plain stitch, In terms of the knitwear item, its highest proportion was shown to be the one piece dresses in a lot of knit is located in a unique item, as the frequency of the highest gauge is more than 20G High gauge so that the trend of its knits showed light-weight of the material is changing. Followed by the most of the pattern is solid, stripe and the pattern size showed the highest frequency pattern was full size with making a small pattern, as result of color tone, found highly vivid and pale, and the bright color tone most used in knit design. Was not included in analysis, the most color of knit design used was achromatic. black and white are both groups were similar and rate is high in dark gray fine-gauge, and other colors were a relatively low distribution. vivid tones were higher in the fine-gauge and dark tones showed low, middle, high-gauge group.
