Perception on soundscape with rail road in Korea

Abstract

In this study, people's perception on soundscape with railway was investigated. For field measurement, landscape metrics in the rural areas were analyzed noise at three sites with different landscape elements where high-speed trains pass by were chosen. Binaural recordings were conducted at selected sites, where high-speed trains pass by, and visual images were also recorded. In order to evaluate the temporal and spatial aspects of highspeed train noises, several psychoacoustical parameters as well as sound pressure level and frequency characteristics were analyzed. The results showed that the loudness of train noises was dependent on source-receiver distance and temporal /spatial characteristics of train noises were affected by environments of rural area.
