Abstract
Nowadays, much effort has been devoted for providing seamless mobility to vehicle across heterogeneous wireless networks. In this paper, we have proposed an application-driven vertical handoff scheme, which includes Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) handoff process to provide seamless connectivity in heterogeneous wireless networks. Both the lower layers information of neighbor networks obtained by MIH services and the QoS requirements of the application are compared to choose the most suitable candidate handoff network for the application. In addition, we put great emphasis on vehicle mobility consideration during handoff decision processing due to the vehicle predominant characteristic of moving dynamically along the road.
