- Abstract
- Food-related domestic laws are administered by several government departments. This results in a lack of specialty, unity, and responsibility which could otherwise be accomplished by a single government department. A long-term plan to restructure food-related laws is to enact a food fundamental law which consistently regulates hygiene, safety, and quality of food. A short-term plan is to extract common factors applicable to food quality labeling of agricultural, marine, livestock products and their processed products and enact a unified law about food qualities. In addition, it is necessary to separate food-related laws from food industry promotion laws.
