- Abstract
- The mood of Park, Mok-Woel’s early poetry is surprisingly similar to the way of expression in Chinese poetry. The poet delivers the meaning in a way of showing, not speaking directly. His early poetry, in which we see the structure of introduction, development, turn and conclusion with rhythm of 7.5 meter, reminds of the quatrain with five Chinese characters in each line, of Wang-Yoo of Chinese Dang dynasty. The most characteristics of Mok-Woel’s early poetry are substantive description without a modifier, simplicity of structure and complete objectification having no subjectivity.
This study is to make a comparison of Mok-Woel’s poems with Chung, Ji-Yong’s, Cho, Ji-Hun’s, and Seo, Chung-Joo’s works which consist of Chinese poetry’s structure, a structure of introduction, development, turn and conclusion. It’s found that Park, Mok-Woel made more clear objectification of image than Chung, Ji-Yong, and his world of poetry is completely different from Cho, Ji-Hun and Seo, Chung-Joo who infiltrate the subjectivity.
Park, Mok-Woel’s early poetry is at the height which any other Korean poems have never tried to. And there is a deep sense of Chinese poetry on the basis of his early poetry. This study casts a question to the problem of viewing his poetry only in a way of modernity.
