- Abstract
- Two types of wire antennas, a monopole-type antenna (MTA) and an inverted-F antenna (IFA), to be internally mounted in a mobile handset, differing only in the presence of a shorting point for the IFA, are proposed, analyzed numerically and experimentally, and compared. Agreement is remarkable between the numerical and experimental analyses for the electromagnetic radiation patterns. Radiation pattern characteristics of the MTA are close to those of the IFA over the frequency range from 3.0 to 3.6 GHz. On the other hand, the resonance frequency and bandwidth are changed by a fraction of 10 and 3%, respectively.
