- Abstract
- Corner beam-column joints in old reinforced concrete buildings are vulnerable against seismic loading. Because corner beam-column joints withstand bidirectional loading during earthquakes, they could be more susceptible to early non-ductile failure. The aim of this study was to improve the seismic performance of bidirectional corner joints using high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites (HPFRCCs). Two full size specimens were constructed and tested under bidirectional loading. The strength, stiffness and energy dissipation capacity of the joint were improved by using HPFRCC. In addition, the axial failure mode was not observed in HPFRCC specimen unlike corresponding RC specimen.
