- Abstract
- Based on the goal of 2050 carbon neutrality, the Seoul Office of Education created a quality educational environment by remodeling outdated school facilities. Therefore, this study aimed to suggest the direction of improving the aging school classroom space through a study on the biofilic design characteristics of educational space, focusing on elementary schools where the case of "the Classroom Filled with Dreams" in Seoul is applied. As for the research method, a case study was conducted through field investigation by deriving the biophilic design characteristics of the educational space through theoretical consideration and composing a checklist based on this. The analysis results are as follows. First, in terms of convergence and complexity, a design plan that can implement various learning through the transition of the future school is necessary. In addition, as indoor play and learning activities increase in response to climate change, it is necessary to apply a ventilation system. Second, in terms of originality, it is necessary to plan a space that can stimulate various senses through hearing, touch, and smell as well as visual experience of the natural environment and arouse curiosity and interest. Third, in terms of stability, an emotional space design application plan that reflects natural factors is necessary. Fourth, in terms of safety, a design that can prevent student safety accidents should be applied as the core. A follow-up study through this study will need a case study through questionnaire and feedback on the effect of the changing biophilic design characteristics of educational spaces on the emotional and sensory development of students in terms of user experience and satisfaction.
