- Abstract
- This study confirms the conditions and characteristics of bioplastics that can be made using casein extracted from waste milk through experiments, and explores the applicability of casein-based bioplastics based on these results. The possibility of making bioplastics was confirmed from the property of casein to solidify when it meets acidic substances and the historical fact that it was already used as plastic in the past. The experiment was conducted in two stages. In the first step, an experiment to derive the temperature and amount of vinegar suitable for casein extraction was conducted in three steps, and in the second step, the effects that depend on the order of adding the pigment were divided into two steps. The results obtained through the experiment are as follows: 1. In order to make bioplastic from extracted casein, the correct temperature and proportion of vinegar are required. 2. Casein-based plastics take time to harden completely, but when fully hardened, they have the same strength as synthetic resin plastics. 3. As drying progresses, transparency is created and light can pass through. 4. If casein is extracted from a mixture of liquid pigment and milk, the dyeing becomes even, and the intensity and transparency are the same as pure casein. 5. When casein is extracted and mixed with powdered pigment, various textures that can be found in nature, such as salt crystals or stone crystals, are formed. From these characteristics, it was possible to discuss the possibility of developing new surface products and finishing materials with ease of shape change, combination with light, and natural properties.
