To design a high-efficiency electric vehicle traction motor with a low torque ripple, the optimal design for the asymmetric structure of the motor is performed. Sensitivity is analyzed to select response-sensitive variables among the shape parameters of the motor increased due to the asymmetric structure. Through the sensitivity analysis result, the optimal design process is proposed that can reduce the computation time and at the same time secure the reliability of the optimization result. The motor designed through the proposed process has advantages over the initial model in terms of average efficiency and torque ripple.-
