Abstract
The linear oscillating actuator (LOA) is an attractive option for the compressor due to their high power density and efficiency. Due tothe segmented outer stator structure of the LOA, 3-D finite element analysis (FEA) is essential for calculating accurate electromagneticloss, but it requires high computation cost. Thus, in this paper, we propose a method to reduce the computation cost calculating the ironloss using only 2-D axisymmetric FEA. To reflect the magnetic flux density increased according to outer stator structure of the LOA, the2-D axisymmetric FEA magnetic flux density was corrected by applying an equivalent coefficient for the ratio of circumferential directionvolume between full and segmented outer stator core. By using the proposed method, efficiency of the LOA can be accurately calculatedwithout any 3-D FEA, thus the LOA can be designed efficiently.
