- Abstract
- A large gain in pyroelectric voltage and current when exposed to infrared radiation after candle soot coating on material surfaces is reported. A piezoelectric buzzer is selected to quantify the effect of candle soot on pyroelectric output. For a given temperature change, the peak value of the open-circuit voltage is enhanced from 2 V to 8 V and electric current is boosted from 15 nA to 95 nA. A load capacitor is also connected through a full wave rectifier. Energy storage in a 10 F load capacitor is increased from 5 nJ to 70 nJ.
