dc.description.abstractBecause of the increase in the price of rare earth magnets, squirrel cage induction motor that does not use magnets are being studied as driving motors. Since fuel efficiency is important for electric vehicles, there is a need to design a driving motor considering efficiency and power density. The material of the conductor bar is divided into aluminum or copper. The conductor bar resistance is superior to copper than aluminum owing to the difference in conductivity. However, in terms of density, aluminum is about 3.3 times lighter than copper. In addition, in the induction motor, the slot opening of conductor bar greatly affects the secondary leakage inductance, which affects the efficiency and output. Therefore, in this paper, the performance and efficiency were analyzed according to the shape and material of the conductor bar in squirrel cage induction motor for EV. First, the shape and material of the motor are presented and an induction motor equivalent circuit is derived. Next, the lumped parameters of the induction motor are calculated using finite element analysis. Finally, the performance and efficiency map of each shape and material is analyzed using the characteristic analysis results.-
