Abstract

The Gwangju Daein Art Market began in 2008. However, as of 2018, only nine artists remained among the 100 who were active in 2008. This study is to confirm the relationship between the outflow factors of artists and to confirm the difference in perception between artists and planners. The relationships among outflow causes were identified based on the DEMATEL analysis. The analysis results are as follows. The confirmed that programmatic factors are highly important and causal in the outflow of artists. In addition, the rent increase, which the artists considered important, proved to be of low in importance. The night market commercialization had the highest impact on other causal variables. Rent increase influenced the decrease in exchange of artists and insufficient space. The resultant variable, the decrease in exchange, was the most important factor. On the other hand, the planner recognized that the most important thing in the outflow of artists was rent. In addition, it was recognized that physical factors rather than program elements influenced the outflow of artists. Both groups recognized the importance of artist exchange as important.
