Abstract
Electric vehicle (EV) is becoming popular because of its green features. However, connecting large number of EVs to the distribution network provides high power demand which is a challenge for a stable operation. This high-power demand and random distribution of these EVs will increase the voltage imbalance to the distribution network. This article proposes an optimal charging approach for mitigating voltage unbalance in the distribution network. This approach takes into account the power balance of the whole distribution network, the amount of energy demand of each EV and the different charging levels. The simulation results show that the proposed method reduced 7.1% voltage imbalance compared with the scenario of uncoordinated EVs charging.
