Abstract
In recent years, Chinese society has gradually paid more attention to ecological and environmental issues. However, in previous studies, few people have observed the changes of ecological and environmental issues in China from the perspective of new words. Based on the new media words from 2010 to 2020 included in the Chinese Language Life Report, this paper analyzes the occurrence frequency, distribution characteristics, word structure and emotional color of the words. Through the analysis, it is found that the media new words from 2010 to 2020 resonate with Chinese society. First, there is a positive correlation between the type and annual distribution of words and the status of China's ecological environment, government policies, and the media and public concerns, that is, the change of the media new words can more comprehensively reflect the correlation between the government, the media and the public on ecological and environmental issues. Second, due to the emergence and development of social media in China, the new media words also reflect the basic characteristics of social media, namely, openness, interactivity and universality. The communication platform of new words is no longer limited to traditional Chinese media such as newspapers and TV, but more often appears in the production and dissemination of social media platforms. Third, the Chinese government and the media still play an important role in the emergence and disappearance of new media words. The policies and regulations in the new media's words reflect the concept, policies, regulations and means of ecological and environmental governance, and change with the transfer of the government's focus. Moreover, the Chinese media can influence the attention of the Chinese society to the ecological and environmental issues, and then also influence the new media words related to them.
