Abstract
This study evaluates the shear strength of steel fiber–reinforced exterior beam-column joints with various anchorage details. Seven specimens were tested, with steel fiber, anchorage type, and hoops as variables. Reversed cyclic loading tests were performed. Anchorage details did not significantly influence peak loads, and the shear strength of the joint increased with the incorporation of steel fibers. In a failure analysis, a hooked bar reduced the shear distortion of the joint with steel fibers, and a headed bar reduced pull-out deformation. The same level of anchorage performance was achieved in Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), even when transverse reinforcement was excluded. An assessment of the shear strength of SFRC joints revealed that consideration of anchorage length and concrete tensile strength leads to accurate predictions of joint shear strength.
