가족여행에서 엄마의 여행경험 분석 - 충분히 좋은 엄마(Good Enough Mother) 개념을 중심으로 -

Abstract

이 연구는 여성학과 유아교육학 분야에서 사용되는 개념인 Winnicott의 충분히 좋은 엄마(Good Enough Mother) 개념을 기반으로 여성, 엄마 관점에서 가족여행이 지니고 있는 다양한 여행경험을 분석하였다. 연구 참여자는 최근 1년간 만 2～6세 자녀와 가족여행 경험이 있는 대상자로 제한하였으며, 분석 방법은 연구 질문에 따라 방향성을 조정하고 자료의 의미를 체계적으로 기술하는 질적 내용 분석(QCA)을 시도하였다. 연구 결과 4개의 주제와 10개의 범주가 도출되었으며, 분석 결과는 일반적으로 여행에서 경험하는 일상을 떠난 휴식과 회복과 관련된 주제가 도출되었고, 엄마의 여행경험에서만 나타나는 특징은 모성본능과 모성역할 등 모성 기능의 확대, 여행과 돌봄을 통한 내면의 성장, 모성의 역설을 경험하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 연구의 이론적 시사점은 충분히 좋은 엄마 개념을 적용하여 긍정적 부정적 여행경험 모두 자연스러운 현상임을 도출하였고, 엄마 내면의 심도 있는 이해와 가족여행의 기초적인 자료를 제공하였다. 실무적 시사점은 관광마케팅 측면에서 엄마 개인 및 아이의 성장을 회상할 수 있는 시설 및 프로그램이 필요하고, 정책적 측면에서 여행 맞춤형 돌봄 서비스 도입과 여행에 참여하기 위한 환경 제공, 가족 친화 정책, 근로자 휴가 지원사업, 휴가 지원금 등 가족이 함께 여행할 수 있는 정책적 지원 확대가 필요하다.

This study analyzed various travel experiences on Winnicott’s concept of the “Good Enough Mother”. The participants in this study were limited to those who had experienced family tourism with children aged 2 to 6 within the past year. The analysis method employed was Qualitative Content Analysis (QCA), which systematically described the data in relation to the research question. The analysis identified four themes and twelve categories. The findings revealed common travel motivations, such as escaping daily life and seeking recovery, which are generally experienced during travel A unique aspect of mothers’ travel experiences was the focus on relationships within the family unit. The theoretical implications of this study suggest that applying the concept of the “Good Enough Mother” provides an in-depth understanding of the mother’s inner self. Practical implications are categorized into two areas. Firstly, in terms of tourism marketing, there is a need to develop facilities and programs for mothers. Secondly, from a policy perspective, it is essential to introduce customized care services for travel. Additionally, it is essential to expand policy support for families to travel together.
