탈북 망명인 한진의 예술세계에 투사된 유라시아적 특성과 문화접변

Abstract

본고에서는 그간 탈북망명인 한진의 문학세계 연구에서 크게 주목하지 않았던 유라시아적인 특성을 ‘문화접변’의 관점에서 살펴보았다. 다양한 삶의 이력과 시선이 그의 작품에 투사된 양상을 조명하며 소비에트 이데올로기 찬양 및 반미의식 표출, 어머니 테마의 변주를 통한 새 조국 카자흐스탄에 대한 인식 표출, 강제이주 참상에 대한 묘사와 한국의 고전에 접목된 디아스포라의 애환 표출 양상을 고찰하였다. 한진이 한국의 고전을 변형시켜 유라시아적 특성의 현지화와 결합된 미학적 성취를 이루었다는 점은 향후에도 의미있는 재평가 작업이 이루어져야 할 부분이다. 그 과정에서 한진이 자신의 기억에 저장되어 있던 한국의 고전을 현지인들의 기대지평에 맞추어 각색하면서 발생하는 ‘문화접변’은 자연스런 일이었다. 하지만 한진의 문학적 성취는 단순히 고국에서 얻은 고전의 기억을 재생시키는데 국한하지 않고 그것들을 토대로 그 지역의 이데올로기나 정서에 맞는 작품으로 창조해 냈다는 점에서 ‘원 소스 멀티 유즈’의 발전적인 문학생산의 선례로 기록될 수 있다. 나아가 한진은 자신의 재능을 구소련 혹은 중앙아시아의 문화적·정신적 바탕에 접목시켜 새로운 미학으로 발현시키며, 고국 잃은 고려인들의 영혼을 어루만지는 예술가로 깊이 뿌리내다는 점에서 유라시아 문화지형도의 이정표로 평가받을 수 있을 것이다.

In the paper, the Eurasian characteristics that have not received much attention in the study of the literary world of the North Korean defector and refugee Han Jin were examined from the perspective of 'acculturation.' Various life experiences and perspectives were highlighted to illuminate the aspects projected onto his works. The paper explored expressions of praise for Soviet ideology and anti-American sentiments, expressions of perception toward the new homeland Kazakhstan through variations on the theme of the mother, depictions of the plight of forced migration, and expressions of the diaspora struggle integrated with Korean classics. The observation that Han Jin achieved aesthetic accomplishments by transforming Korean classics to embody and combine with the localization of Eurasian characteristics is a significant aspect that should undergo meaningful reassessment in the future. In this process, Han Jin's acculturation, as he adapted the Korean classics stored in his memory to align with the expectations and perspectives of the local people, was a natural occurrence. However, Han Jin's literary achievements go beyond simply reviving memories of classical works from his homeland. He creatively used them as a foundation to generate works that align with the ideologies and emotions of the region, marking a precedent for 'One Source Multi-Use' in literary production. Furthermore, Han Jin integrated his talents into the cultural and spiritual foundation of the Soviet Union or Central Asia, manifesting them in a new aesthetic. In doing so, he not only serves as an artist who touches the souls of displaced Koreans but also stands as a landmark in the cultural landscape of Eurasia.
