- Abstract
- Purpose The purpose of this study was to verify the structural relationship between empowering leadership, job crafting, and job enthusiasm of flight attendants. In addition, we believed that flight attendant personality would moderate the relationship between job crafting and job passion, and wanted to check whether it varied depending on personality factors.
Methods Data were collected using an online questionnaire (Naver Questionnaire) targeting 258 domestic airline flight attendants, and the hypothesis was tested using structural equation modeling.
Results This study verified the structural relationship between empowering leadership, job crafting, and job enthusiasm of flight attendants. As a result, empowering leadership was found to have a positive effect on job crafting and job enthusiasm, and job crafting was found to have a positive effect on job enthusiasm. Job crafting was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between empowering leadership and job enthusiasm. And in the relationship between job crafting and job enthusiasm, the neuroticism of the 5 personality factors was found to have a moderating effect.
Conclusion Personality factors of flight attendants play an important role in the aviation field, and through customized education such as multicultural education and foreign language education, flight attendants' capabilities can be strengthened and talent that matches the organizational culture and goals can be discovered and fostered. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and operate a training program that takes into account the personal and work characteristics of flight attendants.
