한국어 부사어 구문 문장 처리 연구: 모어 화자와 고급 학습자의 비교

Abstract

본 연구에서는 인지 동사를 사용한 한국어 부사격 조사 ‘-(으)로’ 구문 문장에서 형태･통사･의미적 정보가 처리되는 양상을 살펴보았다. 한국어 모어 화자(N=27)와 고급 학습자(N=27)를 대상으로 조사, 어순, 명사구 유정성 조건이 조작된 총 336개의 문장을 자가조절읽기 과제를 통해 처리하도록 하였고, 리커트 5점 척도 설문을 통해 이해 점검 수준 및 의미역 할당 성향을 확인하였다. 연구 결과, 모어 화자와 학습자 모두 ‘의미 < 통사 < 형태’ 순의 문장 처리 경향을 보여 형태적 정보인 조사를 최우선적으로 활용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 제약성이 큰 부사격 문형이 학습자들에게 조사 민감도를 높이는 문장 처리 전략을 강하게 유도하기 때문으로, 학습자 집단의 숙달도가 모어 화자와 같기 때문은 아닌 것으로 나타났다. 세부 분석에서는 학습자 집단의 명사구 유정성에 대한 높은 의존도가 나타나서 명사구 대비 조건이 제약성이 큰 부사격 문형의 난이도를 조절할 수 있는 핵심 요인으로 나타났다.

This study investigates the processing patterns of morphemic, syntactic, and semantic information in sentences using the adverbial case marker ‘-(eu)ro’ and cognitive verbs. The study presented a total of 336 sentences to 27 native Korean speakers and 27 advanced learners, with variations in case markers, word order, and noun phrase animacy. Participants processed these sentences via a self-paced reading task and were evaluated for comprehension and semantic role assignment tendencies using a Likert 5-point scale survey. The findings revealed that both native speakers and learners exhibited a processing hierarchy of ‘semantics < syntax < morphology,’ prioritizing morphological information, specifically the case markers. This suggests that the restrictive nature of adverbial phrases compels learners to adopt sentence processing strategies that enhance sensitivity to case markers. However, a more detailed analysis indicated that learners still tended to depend on the animacy of noun phrases, reflecting that their proficiency level is not comparable to that of native speakers. The study highlights that variations in noun phrase animacy are crucial for adjusting the difficulty of highly constrained adverbial sentences. Consequently, a multifaceted approach is essential for a comprehensive understanding of how learners acquire adverbial sentences involving cognitive verbs.
