- Abstract
- Radar sensors have recently found several healthcare applications such as activity recognition, fall detection and vital sign monitoring. Specifically, vital sign detection with radar has shown its usefulness in detection of several chronic conditions such as arrhythmia and heart seizure. In literature, vital signs measurement using radar is performed with fixed radar only. This study aims to measure vital sign with hand-held radar. Data acquisition is performed with human subject holding radar instead of installing it on a rigid surface. We used inertial sensor to measure the vibration caused by holding radar in hand. These distance artifacts are used to compensate the radar observations. The human location is updated according to the distance variations caused by hand-held radar. Performance evaluation in terms of mean absolute error is performed to validate the proposed handheld radar solution.
