- Abstract
- Instead of dumping demolition waste in landfills and paving sub-bases the debris concrete can be used as building material, which can save a surplus amount of money and would improve economy of construction industry. Developing countries of Asia need to rely on recycling techniques to gain long term economic benefits and to stabilize their construction industry. Many batches having different proportions of natural and recycled aggregates were produced. Destructive tests were conducted on hardened concrete cylinders cured for 7, 14 and 28 days. Proportion of recycled aggregates was varied as 0, 10, 20, 30, 50 and 100 % by weight in respective batches and effect of recycled aggregates on behavior of concrete was studied and was compared to concrete produced by using natural aggregates. Though economical but usage of recycled aggregates is not always recommended in every case specially where strength characteristics are of utmost importance.
