2011년 개정 <동아시아사> 교육과정의 문제점과 개선방안

Abstract

필자가 2013년도에 실시한 <동아시아사> 설문조사의 결과, 역사교사들은 각 단원별로 시대적 개관이 필요하며, 병렬식 내용서술을 지양하고, 일부 어려운 주제는 삭제하여 내용을 감축하기를 원했다. 학생들 역시 학습내용을 감축하여 암기 부담을 줄이고, 연관성을 이해할 수 있도록 구체적으로 서술해 주기를 원했다. 2011년 개정 <동아시아사> 교육과정은 기존의 내용요소를 삭제하거나 합침으로써, 3개의 내용요소를 줄였다. 하지만 그 결과 새로 만들어진 내용요소가 기존의 연구 성과와 잘 맞지 않거나 심지어 비역사적이라는 새로운 문제점이 나타났다. 개정 교육과정은 또 통사적 흐름을 강조하고, 중단원을 분야사로 구성함에 따라, 분야사 위주의 통사적 성격이 강화되었다. 필자는 <동아시아사>가 주제사적 특성을 유지하면서 학습내용을 감축해야만 현재 논의 중인 교과목 개편과정에서 살아남을 수 있다고 보았다. 따라서 2011년 개정 교육과정을 토대로 하되, 문제가 있다고 지적한 부분은 2007년/2009 개정 교육과정을 활용하여, 3개의 내용요소를 더 감축한 수정안을 제시했다.

According to my survey about <EAH>, history teachers pointed out each chapter needed periodical overview, avoided enumerating explanation and eliminated some difficult topics. Students also pointed out reducing their excessive learning topics and specific descriptions for better understanding the connections between the subjects are needed. The 2011 amended <EAH> curriculum reduced 3 content elements by deleting or merging the original content elements. And it stressed on need of periodical flow, so strengthened periodical characteristics by recomposing the content element as periodical categorized topics. But as a result of this composition, some problems began to emerge such as the new content element didn’t match the academic researches or even unhistorical approach. I suppose <EAH> curriculum will be maintained in next curriculum reform by reducing the learning topics and restoring the topic-oriented characteristics. Therefore, I newly suggest my amended <EAH> curriculum which is based on 2011 amended curriculum, and some topics are revised making use of 2007/2009 year of amendment.
