- Abstract
- As the smart home technology receives attention in the construction industry due to the influence of the fourth industrial revolution, smart devices that can monitor building energy consumption and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in real-time are actively applied. By using these smart devices, this study developed a model for integrated analysis of energy consumption and IEQ through the following two steps: (i) data collection using the real-time sensor network; and (ii) a model development for integrated analysis of energy consumption and IEQ based on ‘Microsoft Excel-based Visual Basic for Application’. This study conducted an integrated analysis of energy consumption and IEQ in three rooms of ‘I’ hotel in Hong Kong using the developed model. By comprehensive analysis of energy consumption and IEQ through the developed model, it is possible to understand the interaction effect of energy consumption and IEQ and to contribute to the improvement of the building energy efficiency and IEQ.
