영화 「존 오브 인터레스트」에 나타난촉각 체계의 상상력 -피부, 기침, 구토-

Abstract

영화 「존 오브 인터레스트」는 홀로코스트의 고통과 죽음을 시각적으로 재현하지 않고, 정교하게 설계한 사운드를 통해 경험하게 한다. 그러나 본 논문은 사운드 역시 이미지 못지않게 외설적이고 선정적으로 수용될 수 있으며, 홀로코스트에 대한 새롭고 깊은 성찰이 이루어지기는 어렵다고 인식했다. 무엇보다도 이 영화가 특별한 촉각 체계의 상상력을 보여주고 있다고 판단하여, 촉각과 관련된 세 장면을 주목했다. 이 세 장면은 악이 깃든 몸들이 발작하는, 매우 촉각적인 양상을 드러낸다. 인물들이 피부에 대한 청결에 집착하고, 기침과 구토를 통해서 홀로코스트의 증상을 육체로 표출하는 모습을 분석하였다. 오감 중에서 평가절하되어 온 촉각을 복원하는 논의와 함께, 접촉의 다층적 의미와 공감의 원리도 살펴보았다. 촉각은 대상과 밀접하게 접촉하고 얽힘으로써, 감정적일지는 몰라도 더 뜨겁고 강렬하고 관계적인 감각이다. 영화에 나타나는 촉각의 상상력이 홀로코스트와 같은 차마 형언할 수 없는 비극에 공감하고, 타인의 고통에 대한 윤리적 태도를 체화할 수 있을지를 탐색해 보았다.

However, this paper recognized that sound, like images, can also be obscenely and sensationally accepted, and it is difficult for new and deep reflections on the Holocaust to take place. Assuming that this film shows a special imagination of tactile sensation, he paid attention to three scenes related to tactile sensation. These three scenes reveal a very tactile aspect in which evil bodies twitch and seizure. The figures were shown obsessing over the cleanliness of the skin, and expressing the symptoms of the Holocaust with the body through coughing and nausea. The discussion of restoring the tactile sensation that has been devalued was revealed, and the multi-layered meaning of contact and the principle of empathy were also examined. Tactile sensation is a hotter, relational, and intense sensation by coming into close contact with and entanglement with the object. This article analyzed whether the tactile imagination in the film could understand the indescribable tragedy such as the Holocaust and acquire an ethical attitude toward the suffering of others.
