급변하는 의료환경 속에서 벌어지는 다양한 영역분쟁(turf battle)의 한가운데에서 영상의학과 의사는 본인들의 위치를 적절하게 자리매김하기 위해 부단히 노력하고 있으며, 그 일환으로 영상의학과 외래와 임상교육강화 및 그 방법론에 대한 모색의 필요성이 대두되었다. 이를 위해 대한영상의학회에서는 전문위원회를 발족하여, 외국 영상의학과 의사의 임상/외래 진료 현황 및 연관 교육 현황, 국내 타과 의사의 영상의학과 영역의 진료 및 교육 현황 및 국내영상의학과 의사의 임상/외래 진료 현황을 파악하였으며, 대한영상의학회 회원 대상 임상역량강화 관련 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이를 바탕으로 영상의학과 의사의 가시성 및 임상역량 강화의 필요성에 대해 정립하였고 임상역량강화의 방법론을 제안하였다.
