현대춤 실험주의적 표현 연구 -다미안 잘렛의 작품 ＜미스트＞중심으로-

Abstract

실험주의는 전통적 예술 형식에 도전하며, 창의성과 감각을 중시하는 예술적 태도로 인간 표현의 확장을 지향한다. 현대춤에서도 실험주의는 형식 해체와 표현 방식의다양화를 이끄는 핵심적인 미학적 흐름으로 작용하고 있다. 본 연구는 실험주의 이론을 바탕으로 다미안 잘렛의 작품 <미스트>에 나타난 실험주의적 표현 특성을 분석하였다. 특히 시각적 실험성과 신체적 실험성이라는 두 가지 축을 중심으로 작품의 미학적 전략과 창작 원리를 고찰하였다. <미스트>는 디지털 매체 활용과 자연 요소인안개의 적극적 도입, 공간의 해체를 통해 시각적 실험성을 드러내고, 고정 무용 문법의 해체, 성 역할 경계 허물기, 신체 파편화를 통해 신체적 실험성을 구현한다. 본 연구는 이러한 분석을 통해 동시대 안무 경향에 대한 이론적 이해를 도모하고, 현대춤창작의 확장 가능성과 방향 설정에 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

Experimentalism challenges traditional artistic forms and emphasizes creativity and sensory expression, striving for the expansion of human expression. In contemporary dance, experimentalism plays a central role in deconstructing forms and diversifying modes of expression. This study analyzes the experimentalist expression elements in Damien Jalet's work Mist through the lens of experimentalist theory. Specifically, the study explores the visual and physical experimentalism present in the work, focusing on two main aspects: visual experimentation and bodily experimentation. Mist demonstrates visual experimentalism through the use of digital media, the incorporation of the natural element of mist, and the deconstruction of space, while physical experimentalism is realized through the deconstruction of classical dance conventions, the blurring of gender roles, and the fragmentation of the human body. This research aims to provide a theoretical understanding of contemporary choreo- graphic trends and offer foundational material for future directions in contemporary dance creation.
