ChatGPT의 피드백을 통한 한국어 작문 교육－교사 피드백 비교를 통하여－

Abstract

본고는 교사의 작문 피드백과 ChatGPT의 작문 피드백에서 드러나는 특징을 살펴보고, 피드백에 대한 학습자들의 인식과 학습자들의 ChatGPT 실제 활용 양상을 조사하여, 이를 바탕으로 향후 작문 교육에서의 ChatGPT 활용 방안을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구 결과, 교사 피드백은 주로 작문의 언어 영역 특히 언어적 정확성에 집중하는 반면, ChatGPT는 언어, 내용, 구조 세 가지 영역을 상대적으로 균형 있게 다루며 세부적인 피드백을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. 전략 측면에서 교사는 직접 수정 전략을 주로 사용하여 비교적 단순한 형태의 피드백을 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. ChatGPT 피드백은 작문 전체에 대한 평가, 수정 제안 및 설명, 수정된 작문 텍스트로 이루어진 3부분의 거시적 구조를 가지며 미시적으로는 주로 리캐스트, 예시 참고, 평가 등 전략을 활용하여 더 체계적이고 점진적인 접근이 가능하게 하였다. 설문 조사 결과, 학습자들은 명확하고 구체적인 피드백을 선호하는 것으로 나타났으며 70%의 학생들이 교사의 피드백보다 ChatGPT 피드백을 더 선호한다고 응답하였다.. 마지막으로 학습자 대상 설문 조사 결과를 반영하여 교사와 ChatGPT 피드백의 장단점을 바탕으로 프롬프트 디자인의 원칙을 활용하여 작문의 단계별로 ChatGPT를 활용하는 방안을 제시하였다.

This study aims to examine the characteristics of teacher and ChatGPT feedback in writing, investigate learners’ perceptions of feedback and their usage patterns of ChatGPT, and explore future applications based on these findings. The results indicate that teacher feedback primarily focuses on the linguistic aspects of writing, particularly linguistic accuracy, whereas ChatGPT provides a relatively more balanced approach by addressing language, content, and structure with greater depth and detail. In terms of strategy, teachers predominantly use direct correction strategies, resulting in relatively simple forms of feedback. In contrast, ChatGPT feedback follows a three-part macroscopic structure consisting of overall evaluation, revision suggestions with explanations, and a revised writing sample. At a more detailed level, ChatGPT employs strategies such as recasting, example references, and evaluative comments, enabling a more systematic and progressive approach. Survey results show that learners prefer clear and specific feedback, with 70% of respondents indicating a preference for ChatGPT feedback when comparing it with teacher feedback. Lastly, by incorporating the survey findings, this study proposes stage-specific applications of ChatGPT in writing education based on the strengths and weaknesses of both teacher and ChatGPT feedback, utilizing principles of prompt design.
