대학생 대상 재외동포 인식교육 특강이 다문화 감수성에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 재외동포청이 운영한 재외동포 인식교육 특강이 대학생의 다문화 감수성과 인식 변화에 미친 가능성을 탐색적으로 분석하였다. 연구대상은 A대학교에서 해당특강에 참여한 학부생 25명이며, 교육 직후 수집한 서술형 응답을 질적 내용분석과 주제분석을 통해 해석하였다. 분석 결과, 일부 학생들은 미디어와 사회 담론에서 형성된부정적 인식을 성찰하고 통계와 실제 사례를 통해 재검토하였다. 전공·학년·성별에 따라 반응 양상이 달랐으며, 이공계열은 데이터 중심, 인문사회계열은 제도·정책 중심, 보건계열은 돌봄과 연대, 예체능계열은 문화적 수용성을 강조하는 경향이 나타났다. 교육은 단회기였으나 인식 확장과 태도 변화가 일부 확인되었고, 시각자료 부족, 상호작용 한계, 당사자 발화 기회 제한 등이 개선 과제로 제시되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로, 재외동포 인식교육의 제도화, 참여형·멀티모달 콘텐츠 개발, 비판적 미디어 리터러시 연계, 경험 중심 학습, 정책·제도와의 연계 필요성이 논의되었다. 본 연구는 단기 교육의 질적 효과를 살펴본 사례로서, 향후 다문화 및 공공 인식교육의 설계와 운영에 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있다.

This study explores the potential impact of an awareness education program on overseas Koreans, organized by the Overseas Koreans Agency, on university students’ multicultural sensitivity and perception change. The participants were 25 undergraduate students at University A who attended the program. Qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis were applied to interpret open-ended written responses collected immediately after the session. The analysis indicated that some students reflected on and reconsidered negative perceptions shaped by media and public discourse, using statistical data and real-life examples presented during the session. Variations were observed by major, year, and gender: students in science and engineering focused on data-based interpretations; those in humanities and social sciences emphasized institutional and policy contexts; health sciences students highlighted care and solidarity; and arts students stressed cultural acceptance. Although the program was a single session, some participants reported expanded awareness and attitudinal shifts, while limitations such as insufficient visual materials, limited interaction, and lack of direct voices from overseas Koreans were noted. Based on these findings, the study discusses the need for institutionalizing overseas Koreans awareness education, developing participatory and multimodal content, integrating critical media literacy, expanding experiential learning, and linking the program to policy and institutional frameworks. This research provides foundational insights for designing and implementing multicultural and public awareness education programs in the future.
