고령자의 지역사회 지속거주 의사에 미치는 영향 요인 분석 - 지역별, 가구유형별 영향요인 비교를 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 연구는 초고령사회 진입 국면에서 고령자의 지역사회 지속거주(Aging in Place, AIP) 의사에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 분석하고, 특히 지역별(수도권ㆍ5대 광역시ㆍ지방), 가구유형별(노인부부ㆍ노인1인ㆍ자녀동거) 영향요인의 차별성을 검증하고자 하였다. ｢2023년 노인실태조사｣ 원자료(최종 9,782명)를 바탕으로 기술통계ㆍ집단차이 검정ㆍ다중공선성 진단 후 이항 로지스틱 회귀를 수행하고, 지역×가구유형 교차모형으로 조건부 효과를 추정하였다. 분석 결과, 지역사회 지속거주 의사는 단일 요인이 아닌 개인ㆍ환경ㆍ경제ㆍ사회 요인의 상호작용 산물로 드러났다. 수도권에서는 주거비ㆍ불안정성 하에서 주택의 물리적 조건과 객관적 경제자원이 결정적으로 작용하였고, 광역시는 주관적 경제만족과 사회참여가 핵심 요인이었다. 지방은 높은 자가율을 배경으로 한 주거의 물리적 안정성과 경제활동 여부가 핵심 변인이었다. 특히 본 연구는 지역 간 격차를 확인하는 데 그치지 않고, 동일 지역군 내부에서도 가구유형에 따라 영향요인의 구성과 방향이 달라지는 이질성을 함께 확인하였다. 같은 수도권ㆍ광역시ㆍ지방이라 하더라도 노인1인가구는 주거 편의성이 ‘대체 돌봄’ 기능을 수행하며 영향력이 크게 나타났고, 노인부부가구는 주택 만족도 및 물리적 조건의 설명력이 상대적으로 높았다. 자녀동거가구에서는 건강 및 주거 편의성이 핵심 요인으로 나타나는 한편, 일부 경제적 자원은 대안적 주거선택 가능성과 연계되어 지속거주 의사를 약화시키는 방향으로 작동하였다. 이러한 결과는 고령자를 단일 집단으로 전제한 보편적 접근을 넘어, 지역 특성에 따른 격차를 전제로 하되 동일 지역 내 가구유형별 이질성까지 반영한 맞춤형 주거ㆍ돌봄 정책 설계가 필요함을 시사한다.

This study examines the factors influencing older adults’ intention to Age in Place (AIP) in South Korea as it transitions into a super-aged society. It highlights regional variations (the Capital Region, five major metropolitan cities, and non-metropolitan provinces) and differences by household type (older-couple, one-person, and multi-generational households). Utilizing the 2023 Survey of Older Koreans (N = 9,782), we performed descriptive and group-difference analyses, assessed multicollinearity, and estimated binary logistic regression models, including a region × household-type interaction. The results show that the intention to AIP is influenced by a combination of individual, environmental, economic, and social factors, with distinct regional patterns. In the Capital Region, the physical conditions of housing and objective economic resources were most significant, particularly in the context of high costs and residential insecurity. In major metropolitan cities, subjective economic satisfaction and social participation were key factors. In non-metropolitan provinces, high homeownership contributed to housing stability, while economic activity emerged as a crucial correlate. Notably, the determinants varied within regions depending on household type. For one-person households, housing convenience served as a form of “substitute care,” while housing satisfaction and physical conditions were more relevant for older-couple households. In multi-generational households, health and housing convenience were critical, with greater economic resources associated with decreased AIP intention due to the availability of alternative residential options. Overall, the findings emphasize the need for housing and care policies that move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, advocating for tailored strategies that consider regional contexts and the diversity of household types.
