- Abstract
- This paper proposes a method to detect startup failure caused by ice formation on the motor in sensorless control systems. The sensorless control strategy adopted in this study estimates the rotor position by determining the initial rotor angle and initiates motor operation based on a model-based sensorless control scheme. However, under cold start conditions, startup failure may occur when the torque required to overcome the ice exceeds the maximum torque capability of the motor. Therefore, a startup failure detection mechanism is essential during the initial operation phase. This paper proposes a detection method for startup failure, which is based on the error ratio between electrical energy and mechanical energy. The effectiveness of the proposed method is experimentally validated.
