- Abstract
- This study examined the antecedents and consequences of perceived outsider status in the airline industry. A total of 207 questionnaires were distributed to cabin crew members with more than 10 years of experience. Based on the data analysis, out of the six antecedents, perceived organizational support, participatory decision-making, and career growth opportunity had significant negative effects on the cabin crew’s perceived outsider status, while leader-member exchange, organizational justice, and autonomy did not. In addition, it was found that the cabin crew's perceived outsider status had a significant effect on turnover intention and a negative effect on organizational citizenship behavior. The results can serve as valuable basic data for airline human resource management and provide practical implications.
