무용 전공 외국인 대학원생을 위한 학술전문어휘 선정 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 무용 전공 외국인 대학원생이 학술적 글쓰기에 필수적으로 요구되는 어휘를 선정하고 분석함으로써 학술전문어휘 교육에 활용 가능한 기초 자료를 마련하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 무용 관련 학위논문 194편을 수집하여 말뭉치를 구축하고 다음과 같은 절차를 통해 핵심 어휘를 도출하였다. 먼저 수집된 말뭉치는 무용 전공의 주요 연구 분야인 이론연구, 무용교육, 무용창작, 무용과학, 무용심리, 무용사회 등 여섯 개 영역으로 분류하였다. 이후 각 영역에서 사용된 어휘의 빈도를 분석하고 기초어휘를 제외하였다. 다음으로 학술기본어휘를 선별하고 중급 이상의 어휘를 선정하는 작업을 수행하였으며 해당 어휘들의 적절성과 교육적 타당성은 전문가 평정을 통해 검토하였다. 이와 같은 절차를 통해 무용 전공 학습자가 학술 활동에서 이해하고 활용해야 할 285개의 핵심 어휘 목록을 최종 도출하였다. 본 연구는 무용 전공 외국인 대학원생의 학술 글쓰기 능력 향상을 지원하기 위한 기초어휘 목록을 제시하고 학술전문어휘 교육을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to develop foundational materials for academic vocabulary instruction by identifying and analyzing essential vocabulary required for academic writing among international graduate students majoring in dance. To achieve this, a corpus was constructed from 194 dance-related theses, and core academic vocabulary was extracted through the following procedures. First, the collected corpus was categorized into six major research areas within the dance discipline: theoretical research, dance education, dance creation, dance science, dance psychology, and dance sociology. Subsequently, the frequency of vocabulary used in each domain was analyzed, and basic vocabulary items were excluded. Next, academic core vocabulary was identified, and intermediate- or higher-level vocabulary items were selected. The appropriateness and educational validity of these items were then reviewed through expert evaluation. Through these procedures, a final list of 285 core academic terms was compiled, representing essential vocabulary that dance major students need to comprehend and utilize in academic activities. This study presents a foundational vocabulary list to support the improvement of academic writing skills among international graduate students majoring in dance and provides basic materials for discipline-specific academic vocabulary instruction.
