부모의 거부적 양육태도와 삶의 만족도 간 관계에서 청소년 자아존중감의 매개효과

Abstract

본 연구는 부모의 거부적 양육태도가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에서 청소년 자아존중감의 매개효과를 검증하기 위해 수행되었다. KCYPS 2018 2차 자료 중 중학교 1학년에서 2학년으로 이동한 시점에 응답한 2,438명의 무결측 자료가 분석에 활용되었다. 분석에는 SPSS 23.0과 PROCESS Macro 4.2가 사용되었다. 연구 결과, 부모의 거부적 양육태도는 청소년 자아존중감과 부(-)적 상관을 보였으며 청소년 자아존중감은 삶의 만족도와 정(+)적 상관을 나타냈다. 직접효과는 유의하지 않았으나 청소년 자아존중감을 매개로 한 간접효과는 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이는 부모의 거부적 양육태도가 청소년 자아존중감을 저하시켜 삶의 만족도를 감소시키는 과정을 보여준다. 본 연구는 부모-자녀 관계의 부정적 측면과 자아존중감의 역할을 함께 조명하였다는 점에서 의의를 가진다. 또한 청소년기의 발달적 특성을 고려할 때 자아존중감 증진을 위한 부모교육과 학교 기반 상담 프로그램의 마련이 필요함을 제안한다. 이러한 개입은 심리적 안녕을 향상시키고 긍정적 성장 경험을 촉진하는 데 기여할 수 있다. 아울러 연구 결과는 향후 청소년 발달을 지원하는 정책 설계와 실천 전략 개발에 유용한 근거를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

This study examined the mediating effect of adolescents' self-esteem on the relationship between parental rejection and life satisfaction. A total of 2,438 complete responses from students who participated in both the first and second years of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2018 second-wave survey were analyzed. SPSS 23.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.2 were used for data analysis. The results showed that parental rejection was negatively associated with adolescents' self-esteem, while self-esteem was positively associated with life satisfaction. Although the direct effect of parental rejection on life satisfaction was not significant, the indirect effect mediated by adolescents' self-esteem was statistically significant. This indicates that parental rejection lowers life satisfaction by diminishing adolescents' self-esteem. The study is significant as it highlights the negative aspects of parent-child relationships and the role of self-esteem. Considering the developmental characteristics of early adolescence, the findings further suggest the need for parent education and school-based counseling programs to enhance self-esteem. Such interventions may improve psychological well-being and promote positive developmental experiences. Moreover, the results provide valuable evidence for designing policies and practical strategies to support development of adolescents.
