장자 『제물론(齊物論)』에 기반한 미국 포스트모던 댄스 미학의 인식 구조 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 장자 『제물론』의 인식론적 사유를 바탕으로 미국 포스트모던 댄스 미학의 인식 구조를 고찰하는 데 목적을 둔다. 이를 위해 『제물론』의 핵심 개념인 도통위일, 피시방생, 천뢰, 오상아를 중심으로 미학적 인식 분석 모델을 구성하고, 미국 포스트모던 댄스의 주요 미학적 형식을 판단 구조와 경계 생성, 감각 경험과 주체 위치의 측면에서 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 미국 포스트모던 댄스는 예술과 비예술, 무용과 비무용의 구분이 고정된 본질이 아니라 관계적으로 형성된 판단의 결과임을 드러내며, 감각이 의미 이전의 층위에서 발생할 수 있음을 보여 주는 동시에 판단 주체의 중심적 위치를 이완시키는 미학적 특성을 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 미국 포스트모던 댄스의 미학적 의의는 새로운 형식의 제시에만 있는 것이 아니라, 미학적 판단과 경험이 가능해지는 인식 구조를 가시화하고 재편하는 데 있다. 본 연구는 미국 포스트모던 댄스를 미학적 인식 구조의 변동이라는 관점에서 재해석하고, 『제물론』을 무용 미학 분석의 방법론적 자원으로 확장하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

This study examines the structure of aesthetic cognition in American postmodern dance based on the epistemological thought of the “on the equality of things” in Zhuangzi. To this end, it constructs an analytical model centered on the key concepts of Dotongwiil, Pisibangsaeng, Cheonroe, and Osanga, and analyzes the major aesthetic forms of American postmodern dance in terms of structures of judgment, boundary formation, sensory experience, and subject position. The analysis shows that the distinctions between art and non-art, and between dance and non-dance, are not fixed essences but relationally constituted outcomes of judgment. It also demonstrates that sensory experience can emerge prior to meaning-making, while displacing the traditionally central position of the judging subject. The aesthetic significance of American postmodern dance, therefore, lies not merely in presenting new forms, but in rendering visible and reconfiguring the structures that make aesthetic judgment and experience possible. This study thus reinterprets American postmodern dance from the perspective of transformation in aesthetic cognition.
