소년원 자원봉사 상담자들의 현장 경험에 관한 질적 연구

Abstract

본 연구는 소년원이라는 폐쇄적이고 위계적인 특수 환경 속에서 자원봉사 상담자들이 현장에서 실제로 무엇을 경험하고 어떠한 과정을 거치며 상담을 지속해 나가는지 그 구 체적인 실태와 경험의 구조를 기술하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 10년 이상 소년원 에서 활동한 자원봉사 상담자 7명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였으며, Colaizzi의 현 상학적 분석 절차를 적용하였다. 분석 결과, 총 39개의 의미단위와 11개의 하위범주를 거 쳐 5개의 상위범주가 도출되었으며, 이는 ‘상담의 문턱에서 느끼는 낯섦과 두려움’, ‘경계 너머로 다가서며 신뢰의 씨앗을 심는 과정’, ‘소년원생의 삶을 마주하며 확장되는 시야’, ‘미세한 변화 속에서 발견하는 존재의 의미’, ‘상담을 통해 재정립된 나의 존재와 정체성’ 이다. 본 연구는 자원봉사 상담이 일회성 개입이 아닌, 자원봉사 상담자에게도 깊은 성찰 과 내면의 변화를 제공하며 함께 변화해가는 역동적인 과정임을 확인하였다. 이러한 결 과는 향후 소년원 상담의 지속성과 전문성 강화를 위한 자원봉사 상담자 교육 및 제도적 기반 마련에 있어 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study explores the experiences of volunteer counselors in the closedenvironment of juvenile reformatories. In-depth interviews with seven veterancounselors were analyzed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological method. The analysisyielded five main categories: ‘Unfamiliarity and Fear at the Threshold of Counseling,’‘Sowing Seeds of Trust by Crossing Boundaries,’ ‘Expanding PerspectiveEncountering Inmates’ Lives,’ ‘Meaning of Existence in Minute Changes,’ and ‘IdentityRedefined Through Counseling.’ The results confirm that volunteer counseling is adynamic process of mutual growth and deep self-reflection, rather than a simpleone-time intervention. Counselors experienced internal transformation while evolvingalongside clients. These findings emphasize the necessity of systematic support toenhance the continuity of correctional counseling.
