긱 워커(Gig worker)에 대한 통합적 문헌 고찰

Abstract

본 연구는 긱 워커(gig worker)에 대한 국내· 외 연구를 종합하여 긱 워커에 대한 이해를 도모하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 2023년 5월 RISS, ProQuest에서 ‘gig worker’, ‘긱 워커’, ‘긱 근로자’를 키워드로 검색하여 총 167편(영문 142편, 국문 25편)을 최종 문헌 분석 자료로 선별하였다. 통합적 문헌 고찰 결과, 첫째, 긱 워커 및 긱 업무의 정의는 그 속성을 파편적으로 언급하는 데 그쳐 일관되지 않게 명시되고 있었다. 둘째, 긱 워커와 관련된 이론에는 사회 교환 이론, 직무 특성 모델 이론, 자기 결정성 이론, 분배 공정성 이론, 직무 요구-자원 이론, X이론과 Y이론, 기대이론, 경력개발이론이 있었다. 셋째, 긱 워커 관련 연구 동향은 1) 긱 워커 개인이 긱 업무에 대해 갖는 인식 및 태도, 2) 긱 워커 개인이 자신에 대해 갖는 인식 및 태도, 3) 긱 워커에 대한 조직 관점, 4) 긱 워커의 몰입 및 고용을 유지하기 위한 관점, 5) 긱 워커의 경력개발 관점의 다섯 가지 관점에서 다뤄지고 있었다.분석 결과를 바탕으로 HRD/HRM 관점에서 긱 워커에 대한 이론적, 실천적 논의 및 향후 연구 방향을 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study is to synthesize research on gig workers to develop a better understanding of gig workers. We searched for peer-reviewed journal articles related to gig workers using the keywords ‘gig worker’ by utilizing RISS and ProQuest in May 2023. We conducted an integrative literature review of 167 articles and found that, first, the definitions of gig work and gig worker have been inconsistent. Second, theories related to gig workers include social exchange theory, job characteristics model theory, self-determination theory, distributive justice theory, job demands-resources theory, Theory X and Theory Y, expectancy theory, and career development theory. Third, research trends related to gig workers were addressed from five perspectives: 1) perceptions and attitudes of gig workers toward gig work, 2) perceptions and attitudes of gig workers toward themselves, 3) organizational perspectives on gig workers, 4) perspectives on keeping gig workers’ engagement and employment, and 5) career development perspectives of gig workers. Based on the findings, we discussed the current state of gig workers’ research in the HRD//HRM field and suggested implications for scholars and practitioners.
