- Abstract
- A composite I-girder is a flexural member in which a concrete slab and steel I-girders are connected. This research presents the nominal positive flexural strength considering the strain-hardening of steels for composite I-girder compact sections. A parameter was defined accounting for the strain-hardening effect on the flexural strength of the composite I-girders. With this parameter, A numerical analysis was performed for various hypothetical composite I-girders fabricated from the conventional steels and the composite I-girders fabricated from HSB600 of high performance steels. Based on the results, the effect of the strain-hardening of steels on the flexural strength of the composite I-girders was investigated and the design equation of the nominal positive flexural strength considering the strain-hardening effect of steels for composite I-girders was proposed.
