Abstract
We propose a novel side-shielded wireless power transfer coil for implantable medical devices. The side-shielded coil consists of a resonator and a side-shield structure, which is partially wrapped around the resonator. The side-shield structure isolates the proposed coil from the human body effect and efficiently transfers power to the receiving coil. In addition, the proposed coil has a specific absorption rate approximately four times lower than that of a conventional spiral wireless power transfer coil.
