Abstract
In this study, the automotive water leak detection method using compressed jet air flow was verified. Three types of tests (fundamental specimen, severed BIW specimen, complete vehicle) were performed to understand the acoustic characteristics of water leak hole. From these measurements, it was founded that a single frequency sound was induced when jet air passed through the water leak hole. A signal classifying algorithm was investigated to separate sound pressure signal caused water leak hole. Consequently, automatic water leak detecting plan at complete vehicle was proposed.
