- Abstract
- Urethane liquid-applied membrane has been widely used in roof, basement floor, sports arena, etc. for its outstanding elasticity and water-tightness since 1970's. The embo-tech membrane construction method using the embo-spray coating system for urethane liquid was later developed to prevent slipping, improve durability, and enhance the aesthetic quality of urethane-based floor materials. This paper studied the slip resistance performance of the embo-tech liquid-applied membrane construction method according to the viscosity of the urethane liquid and the diameter of the spray nozzle. The roughness of the embo-membrane samples has been analyzed in the slice image and 3D modeling using X-ray CT. A guideline for selecting the proper viscosity of the urethane liquid and the nozzle diameter to form the optimum embo-pattern has also been presented through roughness analysis. Ultimately, the results of X-ray CT have been verified in the field test using the shoes and tires. This paper suggests optimal construction method using the embo-tech liquid applied membrane construction method and can be used for quantitative evaluations on slip resistance performances of various embo-patterns.
